Hello! I am a stay-at-home mom. I have been looking for work since my child was five years old. He is now twelve years old. Because of health issues, I could not work in the labor market, and therefore I have been taking online administration courses. However, it is not easy to find a regular hour office job.
In 2022, I decided to go back to school to study. I must take an English public test for the program which I applied for. To my surprise, I found ALF in the Public Library offer teaching English writing programs free of charge. ALF is supporting those nonnative English speakers to return to their profession in Canada. Therefore, I contacted ALF and started learning English in 2023 for a couple of months.
I just attended ALF for a very short time and in Fall 2023, I was accepted as a BA undergraduate student in the University of New Brunswick. Learning is a life journey! I love learning which totally changes my life. Learning gives me confidence and joy. Though going back to school as a mature student and mom is quite a challenge, each course truly inspires me. I am now double majoring in Law in Society and French, and minor in English. Campus life is very dynamic. I feel younger to mingle with the university students. Other than learning English and French, I also take accounting, political science, philosophy, classic and history. Each course has its special characteristics. I love them all.
My goals are applying knowledge that I learnt to where I work. I may become a lawyer, a researcher or work in the banking industry. I do not know what tomorrow will bring indeed, but now I only know to focus on studying with all my soul and all my heart. Last but not least, I select courses according to my interests, not job orientated, otherwise learning would become a burden.
